# Map API

> Show where Plugchoice's charge cards charge: public charging locations with their live status, prices and how busy they usually are.

The Map API serves the charging map in Plugchoice. You can put the same map in your own app or website, with any map library. It has the public charging locations of the operators Plugchoice roams with, and the chargers on Plugchoice that their owners opened to roaming.

## Base URL

The Map API is public and read-only. It needs no key or account, and any origin may call it from a browser.

| [`GET /locations/{id}`](https://developer.plugchoice.com/map/api/get-location) | A location's address, chargers, connectors, tariffs and how busy it usually is |
| [`GET /search?q=`](https://developer.plugchoice.com/map/api/search) | Chargers by the EVSE id printed on them |

## Live data

Nothing is cached. Each answer is what Plugchoice knows when you ask: a status an operator sends is on the next tile within seconds. Answers carry an `ETag`, so asking again for a tile that hasn't changed costs an empty `304`. See [Requests and limits](https://developer.plugchoice.com/map/requests.md).
